An invoice asks your client to pay for work you've done. Follow the steps below to build an invoice, set the payment terms, and send it to your client.
Open the invoice form
- Sign in at form.quoteinvoiceservices.com.
- Select Invoices in the top menu.
- Open the Choose a billing method drop-down and pick the method that fits the job (for example, Labour).
The matching invoice form opens as soon as you pick a billing method.
Tip: To see invoices you've already made, open the invoice list at the top right of the page.
Company, client and project
- Check your Vendor / Company Information is correct.
This is what your client sees as the sender.
- Enter the client's name and email address.
- Enter the project name and project address.
- Add the work order reference so the invoice ties back to the job.
When and how you get paid
- Set the invoice date and the due date.
- List the accepted payment methods (for example, E-transfer or Cheque).
- Add your late payment policy (for example, 2% interest per month on overdue balances).
About payments: QuoteInvoice Services doesn't collect money for you. Your client pays you directly using the methods you list here.
What you're billing for
- Add a line for each piece of work, with a clear description.
- Enter the hours and rate (or quantity and price, depending on the billing method).
Each line total and the invoice total are worked out for you.
- Add more lines as needed, and remove any you don't want.
About markup: Any Materials & Equipment markup % is for your eyes only. It's included in the totals, but it is never shown on the invoice or email your client receives.
Finish the invoice
- Review the totals, due date and the client's email address.
- Save it as a draft if you're not ready to send it yet.
- When it's ready, send it to your client.
Practising in the sandbox? In the sandbox each line item and the Final Amount Due must be $100 or less, or the invoice won't save (drafts included).
